This piece in particular was created during a time when I was feeling very vulnerable and honestly, a little bit mad. This is my version of rising from the ashes, turning anger and frustration into something bright, bold and unapologetically mine.
Be the Rainbow
'Be the Rainbow' is one of my very first typography pieces for my first Maxwell & Williams collection back in 2019, right when my career was really kicking off. I will never forget the feeling of seeing this design take up a whole window shopfront in a local Westfield.
Plushie Pile
Plushie Pile is my favourite print created for Australia's favourite PJ maker, Peter Alexander. A joyful pileup of Australian animals, classic cuties and of course the iconic PA dachshunds, this vibrant print was a hit with both big and little kids. Working with Peter was an absolute honour and it is a collaboration I'll always remember.
Baby Give Back
An original artwork created for a charity raffle supporting Baby Give Back, who provide essential items to families in need. Original artworks make me ridiculously nervous, but this one felt different. I loved creating it knowing it would help support such an important cause.
It's Play School!
A collection of colourful collage pieces created for a very special Play School project. As someone who grew up with Play School, getting to create artwork for such an iconic piece of Australian childhood was pure nostalgia (and a definite dream-client moment)!
Midnight Leopard
The very first print I created for Mama Movement. We started our businesses within months of each other in 2020 and have been creating colourful magic together ever since. This one marks the beginning of a pretty special creative partnership.
My Safe Place
From my Girl & Cat series, this piece is dedicated to my ginger boy, Fenton. He is without a doubt my rock, my emotional support and my tool for regulating my big feelings. When he is in my arms, I feel safe. This drawing is how it feels.
Darcy's Garden
A textile design created using drawings by my daughter, Darcy. I turned her adorable little artworks into a colourful print and used them for a small children’s collection I released in 2020, making this one an extra special piece of our family’s creative history.
Flower Power
The print that started a LOT. Flower Power was the first textile design I ever created to appear on clothing, through my very first fashion client, Little Party Dress. A tiny beginning that helped change the direction of my entire career, and a collaboration I will forever be grateful for.
I Sea Me
From my 'Self Reflection' collection, this piece explores the self-doubt and imposter syndrome I experience on a daily basis. That is, the strange disconnect between how I see myself and how others seem to see me. That feeling of somehow finding yourself in a position you still don’t quite believe you belong in.
Not all Storms
A behind-the-scenes glimpse of Hidden Strength, an artwork created for the charity Love Your Sister. I asked my community to share words that had helped them through difficult times, then hand-wrote every single one onto the back of hand-painted paper hearts. Together, they became part of something much bigger.
Miss Piggy
A little throwback to my Personality Portrait days, when I spent a lot of time drawing people! I chose Miss Piggy as the bookmark for this era of my career rather than sharing someone’s personally commissioned portrait because, well… she's fab.
BOOST!
One of the earliest BIG moments of my creative career. This design won a competition for Boost Juice and became their first ever colour-changing cup. It was the first time I saw my artwork on a major brand and I remember thinking, “Holy shit. Maybe I can actually do this.”
Statue Garden
Alright, this one was a bit of a wildcard. This is another piece from my 'Girl & Cat' collection, and while it may not be meaningful, it's a little bit weird. Just like me. And I like it. So there you go.
Blue Leopard
My first ever colourful leopard print AND the artwork used for my very first collaboration with Proud Poppy. This one really paved the way for what would become one of my signature styles.
Leo
The very first drawing of Leo. Just a simple little face I created without knowing what he would eventually become, or that this tiny character would be the very beginning of a whole new, and very colourful world called Kutopia.
Electric Leopard
If there’s one artwork people associate with me, it’s this one. Electric Leopard has fast become my signature print and has appeared on more than 60 different products over the years. She’s been around the block... but she’s still sparkling.
When I Grow Up
My favourite illustration from my very first book, When I Grow Up. The book was funded through Kickstarter and self-published, long before I really knew where this creative adventure was taking me. Looking back, this was the project that started it all.
Bouquet
Sometimes the pieces with no brief, deadline or big story behind them become the most special. Bouquet is a handmade floral collage I created simply because I felt like creating and it remains one of my favourite things I’ve ever made.
Everything Will Be Okay
This typography print was created for Proud Poppy and was designed specifically for the backs of shirts. The idea was simple: wherever the person wearing it went, they’d leave a little trail of reassurance behind them. Everything will be okay.
Major Tom
A hand crafted space-themed collage that I loved so much I couldn’t leave it alone. It eventually became a textile print too, appearing on fabric through Material Difference, the online fabric store I co-founded.
Riley's Garden
The first artwork I created after losing my beautiful boy Riley. I like to imagine it's where he is frolicking now, amongst the colourful leaves, the buzzing bugs, hunting down his precious tennis ball collection. Love you Riley Bear.
Alotta Love
The first of my heart collages, created from individually hand-cut and hand-painted paper hearts. It later appeared on Hallmark cards and eventually inspired my Hidden Strength artwork for Love Your Sister. One little idea that went on to have a whole lotta life.
A Beautiful Mess
Created during a particularly difficult period of my life, this collage was simply created as a reminder to myself, that sometimes life can be messy and beautiful at exactly the same time.
Banksy
Part of my Australian Botanicals collection, where I reimagined native Australian flowers through my own colourful lens, Banksy is my bright and bold take on the beautiful banksia.
Midnight Safari
Not every artwork needs a deep and meaningful backstory! Midnight Safari is simply one of my favourite textile designs, with its deep navy and purple tones mixed with unexpected pops of bright colour... I just really bloody like it.
Yeah Nah Yeah
A throwback to my 'Slang It To Me' range from 2020–2021, celebrating some of Australia’s finest contributions to the English language. These designs ended up on a whole bunch of shirts and jumpers, with Yeah Nah Yeah a firm favourite.
In The Jungle
One of my earlier handmade collages, featuring a leopard peeking through a ridiculously colourful jungle. There’s no profound meaning hiding amongst the leaves, I just loved making it then, and I still love looking at it now.
Finding Kutopia
The cover of the Kutopia book that never was. This was originally going to be the very first book, introducing all 12 lands and the characters who lived within them. I spent an enormous amount of time creating it, only for the project to fall apart just before printing. It was heartbreaking.
Space Cowgirl
My personal favourite from my 'Girl & Cat' collection This collection came from a period where I was deliberately pushing my illustration skills and letting myself make things purely because they were fun.
Rainbow Flame
A little time capsule from my fluid-art era in 2018. An abstract explosion of colour that twists and flows like rainbow flames, from a time when I was still experimenting and discovering what my creative style might become.
May Gibbs
The iconic Gumnut Babies, reimagined in my bright and colourful style for my collaboration with May Gibbs. Being trusted to put my own spin on such a beloved piece of Australian art and storytelling history was an incredible honour.
Live Bright!
A newer abstract artwork created for my Hallmark greeting card range. Bright, joyful, colourful and carrying two words that have become a pretty fitting philosophy for both my work and my life: Live Bright.
Kutopian Critters
My very first textile design created for Kutopia, featuring all 48 critters together, each with their own personality and sparkle. It's a pretty special reminder of just how enormous this imaginary world in my head has become.
To the Moon and Back
Created during one of the darker chapters of my life, this collage is dedicated to my husband and daughter, who have always loved me through the dark bits and helped me find my colour again.
I Need Space
From my 'Self Reflection' collection, this piece captures that very familiar feeling of complete overwhelm. When everything becomes too loud, too much and too close, and you desperately need to escape from life for a little while.
Billy
Another piece from my Australian Botanicals collection, this time inspired by the wonderfully weird little Billy Button. Like the rest of the collection, it is Australian flora turned up to maximum colour and created in my 'digital collage' style.
Wunderland
My favourite piece from my 'Self Reflection' collection, Wunderland represents falling down the dark hole of depression, something I know all too well. However, ithis piece also symbolises the knowledge that creativity, art and colour will always help me find my way back out.
PP Swim
A bright and bold textile design created for Proud Poppy’s first swimwear collection. This one felt particularly empowering after what I can only describe as a 'yucky' moment in my career. Instead of letting that experience ruin something for me, I got to come back and do it bigger, brighter and on my own terms.
Kasey's Utopia
Possibly the most special card in this entire collection. I created this artwork when I was still in high school, long before any of this existed. Looking at it now, there are elements that reflect the life and career I eventually built almost eerily well. Teenage Kasey had no idea what was coming, but it also seems like she kinda did...
